Nothing is ever a heavy subject matter, no sad episodes, some stuff about Felix wanting to be a closer to his kids, or patching up a spat between a friend and the friends wife might be touching, but nothing is ever upsetting or serious or sad.
(Paul Williams, Martina Arroyo, Edward Vallela (ballet) Billie Jean King, Richard Dawson, etc…) They are both law abiding professionals, Felix hosts an opera club, and is in a band, He has kids, and when they are shown, he is an involved father, throwing them birthday parties, coaching football (with Oscars help!) and teaching his kids about opera! Oscar does smoke cigars, and Felix hates it. There are tons of guest star appearing as themselves over the years. I learned everything I ever knew about Opera from that show because Felix was an opera buff. Based on Neil Simons award winning play/movie and produced and written by Garry Marshall (Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley) the characters are good hearted people, they bicker because one is tidy and refined and one is messy and into sports.
I started watching the-re runs of The Odd Couple when I was about 10.
